Paris Marathon - 6 April 2014

On 6 April, B.I.T.T. had a date with Paris Marathon. The two Borda representatives, Kostas and Juan, put the flag high on the Eiffel Tower and opened the champagne at the Champs Elysees.

This is one of the most important marathons in Europe together with Rome, Berlin and London.

The first Paris Marathon, the Tour de Paris Marathon, took place in 1896. A big crowd gathered to watch 191 participants. It was run over a course of 40 km from Paris to Conflans-Sainte-Honorine via Versailles, and the organisers decided to award a commemorative medal to all runners who finished the race in less than 4 hours. The present Paris Marathon dates instead from 1976.

8.30 and the runners were ready to go. Keeping the team's tradition, there was no warm up. Only a manifestation of the cold beer waiting at the end. The roads of Paris ready to borda, starting from the Arc de Triomphe, heading down the Avenue des Champs-Elysees, passing Concorde and the Louvre. Tons of bands were out in the streets to give the survival rythm.

Fighting with the heat and with other runners for some bananas and oranges, finally – the Arc was in sight, with the finish far before it.
A great run in a great city with new B.I.T.T. records: 3h27 for Kostas, 3h50 for Juan!
Bravo les gars, pour vous la medaille d'or!
