Borda Team registered for both Marathon and Half Marathon in Brussels.
For Doug it was the very first time with the classic distance. The race started at 9 and ended for him after 4h38 minutes. After surviving the biggest challenge, Doug, while sipping a cold cold hectoliter of beer laying on his couch, firmly stated:
'The course is spectacular, both pretty and tough. I actually enjoyed the first half, but it's at the 20km mark that the real race starts. I'd been doing a good pace until 30km but at this point my legs started to go and the last 12km is hilly. Next time I'll choose a flatter course'.
Spotted! while entering Grand Place and about to cross the finish line, Bravo Doug!
Doug was already facing pain and discouragement climbing the first hills of the route, while the Half Marathon was about to start and the second wave of BITT runners entered the Parc moving towards the start point.
Here they are, Guillermo, Bill, Umberto, Kostas, Francesco, Cristina while posing with friends and supporters in a beautiful vintage picture.
Guillermo welcomes the newcomer of the day in the Borda family, Sabine from Belgium!
The race started with over 12.000 runners invading the centre of Brussels.
...and this is the magic finish in the heart of the city, Grand Place.
Some unidentified (flying) extraterrestrials dressed in flashy grey outfits were spotted near the main square, making jokes and meddling in other runners' pictures (see the smiley face of the man with a red t-shirt on the back). Are they Borda runners?
Upcoming BITTadventures:
1. Brussels EKIDEN Relay - 19 October 2013
2. Amsterdam Half Marathon - 20 October 2013
Stay tuned for other incredible bordaraces!
